UCSD#1 Teacher of the Year- Mrs. Caryn Piper
Caryn Piper is the recipient of the 2019-2020 Uinta County School District No. 1 Teacher of the Year Award.
Uinta Meadows Elementary is a Professional Learning Community. Caryn embodies the Three Big Ideas of a PLC.
PLC Big Idea #1 is “Ensuring all students learn.” She believes every child has the ability to learn at high levels. She builds positive, lasting relationships with her students. Due to COVID 19, we all understand the potential learning gaps for students as they return to school in the Fall. Caryn has already spent hour upon hour studying and preparing instructional strategies to ensure all of her students are ready for the fifth grade. Caryn puts students first in every situation and she works around the clock on their behalf, because she loves them.
PLC Big Idea #2 is a “Collaborative Culture.” Caryn is “the” model teacher when it comes to collaboration. She creates trusting relationships with her colleagues and facilitates with care. Caryn is respected across the district and has served on many district committees, which include but are not limited to; ELA and math resource adoption, ELA and math curriculum pacing guides, evaluation adoption, report cards, blended learning, social studies, and much more. Caryn Piper believes all students can learn at high levels. Not just her kids, but all kids in UCSD#1.
PLC Big Idea #3 is a “Focus on Results.” I have never worked with a more data-driven educator. She is our school-wide data specialist creating data protocols, spreadsheets and assessments. Her forward thinking and proactivity make UME and our district stronger.
Caryn Piper encompasses the UME mission, “Ensure high levels of learning for ALL” to the greatest level. When I find Caryn at my office door I invite her in and I listen. She changes lives, ALL lives, for the better. We want to recognize and congratulate Mrs. Caryn Piper as this year's UCSD1 Teacher of the Year!
