November in a Nutshell

Happy Thanksgiving!
This month our main focus was on "Conscious Discipline: Encouragement." We learned all about...
Unity: We explored the definition of the word unity and how that can apply at school to create a more cohesive school environment that is inclusive for all. You can learn more about the Conscious Discipline idea of a school family here:
Uniqueness: The kids explored their own uniqueness and what makes them special and different. We also worked through how to accept ourselves fully AND if there are areas of improvement, how to set goals and achieve them from a place of self-love rather than self-hate.
Strengths: Growing on exploring uniqueness, we looked at each individual child's areas of strengths as well as areas of potential growth. You can explore the book that was used further here:
Gratitude: It worked out that Thanksgiving week was a focus of gratitude. We learned about the definition of the word and how to show gratitude as well as the science behind why gratitude has a positive effect on us. The kids set a goal to make gratitude a more frequent practice instead of just during Thanksgiving.
Kindness: The last week of November and into the first week of December our focus will be on kindness. With this focus, we will be demonstrating kindness but also including empathy to help increase overall understanding of kindness.
I would like to express my gratitude for all of you who bring these AMAZING kiddos to us each day, I continue to learn so much from them.
